Fubon Financial reported a record-high adjusted EPS of NT$13.17 for the first half of the year, driven by robust AI-related lending and strong stock market performance.
What Happened
Strong Financial Results: Fubon Financial delivered impressive first-half results with a net profit of NT$97.39 billion and an EPS of NT$6.67. When accounting for FVOCI equity disposal gains, the adjusted EPS reached a record-breaking NT$13.17, leading the financial holding sector.
AI and Semiconductor Momentum: President Jerry Harn emphasized that robust demand from AI and semiconductor-related industries continues to drive corporate lending. The company expects this strong momentum in hardware-related financing to persist through at least the first half of 2027.
Investment Portfolio Performance: Fubon Life reported a total investment return of 9.18% for the first half, with domestic equity returns reaching an impressive 65.25%. Although market volatility in July caused a temporary dip in unrealized gains, the portfolio showed signs of recovery by August.
Market Outlook: While Fubon remains optimistic about the fundamental strength of the AI sector, management anticipates high-level volatility for the fourth quarter due to increased market sensitivity. The positive earnings report triggered a surge in Fubon's stock price, which hit a record high of NT$141, lifting other financial stocks in the process.
