CBAK Energy reports significant profit growth driven by EV material demand, while Phoenix Tours maintains resilient earnings despite inflationary and geopolitical headwinds.
What Happened
CBAK Performance: CBAK Energy reported a Q3 net profit of NT$161 million, a 92.4% year-on-year increase, with a nine-month EPS of NT$4.81. Following certification by major Japanese automakers, the company's EV battery materials have seen a significant surge in shipments, keeping production lines near capacity.
Capital Expansion: To enhance global competitiveness, CBAK announced a US$45 million investment in its Vietnamese subsidiary. This expansion is intended to scale up overseas production capacity to meet strong demand from major Japanese and European clients and ensure stable future supply.
Phoenix Tours Results: Phoenix Tours reported a nine-month net profit of NT$251 million, with an EPS of NT$2.99, marking a 10% year-on-year increase. Despite Q3 headwinds from Middle East conflicts and inflation impacting long-haul travel, demand for Asian cruises and short-haul trips during the summer supported revenue.
Market Challenges: Phoenix Tours' management noted that rising oil prices and inflationary pressures continue to dampen the market for European and long-haul cultural tours. However, the company has managed to sustain profit growth through a diversified product portfolio and strategic focus on regional travel.
