Wisdom Marine saw its August pre-tax profit jump 94% year-on-year, driven by vessel disposals and strong market rates, bringing its year-to-date EPS to NT$6.81.
What Happened
Financial Performance: Wisdom Marine (2637-TW) announced August consolidated revenue of NT$2.013 billion, a 34.96% increase year-on-year. The company reported a monthly pre-tax profit of NT$1.154 billion, with earnings per share (EPS) reaching NT$1.55, marking a 94.22% annual growth.
Asset Divestiture: Profitability was bolstered by the disposal of two vessels in August, which contributed approximately NT$0.5 to the monthly EPS. The company has offloaded five older vessels this year as part of a strategic initiative to modernize its fleet and focus on energy-efficient ships.
Fleet Expansion: Two new Handy-size energy-efficient vessels are scheduled to join the fleet in September. Wisdom Marine remains committed to building the industry's largest eco-friendly fleet, capitalizing on robust demand in the second-hand vessel market.
Market Outlook: Looking toward the fourth quarter, the company expects freight rates to remain supported by seasonal grain exports from North America and winter coal demand. Furthermore, global geopolitical tensions and extreme weather conditions are expected to tighten vessel supply, maintaining favorable market conditions.
