Trading restrictions have been tightened for four stocks, including Tianhan, as regulators step in to manage extreme price volatility in the local market.

What Happened

Regulatory Intervention: The Taiwan Stock Exchange and Taipei Exchange have announced that Tianhan will remain under trading restrictions until August 31 due to its recent surge in share price. Three other companies, Xisheng, Shengyu, and IET-KY, have also been placed under similar disciplinary measures starting August 25.

Trading Restrictions: The four affected stocks will be subject to manual matching mechanisms to curb volatility. Tianhan and Xisheng, categorized as full-delivery stocks, will face 25-minute and 10-minute matching intervals, respectively, while Shengyu and IET-KY will be matched every two minutes.

Reasons for Disciplinary Action: Tianhan's extension is attributed to its significant cumulative gains over the past few trading sessions. The other stocks were flagged due to various factors, including excessive price drops for Xisheng and high valuation metrics or rapid turnover rates for Shengyu and IET-KY.

Market Oversight: These measures reflect the regulators' commitment to maintaining market stability amidst heightened speculative activity. By implementing these cooling-off periods, authorities aim to protect investors from extreme price swings and ensure more orderly trading conditions for volatile assets.
