Starting December 7, 2026, fractional share trading in Taiwan will synchronize with the main market opening at 9:00 AM, featuring new pre-market price discovery.
What Happened
Trading System Reform: The Taipei Exchange announced that starting December 7, 2026, fractional share trading will be synchronized with the main market, with order submission beginning at 8:30 AM and execution starting at 9:00 AM. This adjustment aims to provide fractional share investors with equal access and improved convenience compared to standard share trading.
Enhanced Market Transparency: To assist investors in gauging market sentiment, the fractional share market will adopt the main market's pre-opening disclosure protocol, providing simulated transaction prices and volumes every five seconds. This initiative is designed to increase transparency and help investors make more informed decisions before the market officially opens.
Risk Management Protocols: A new "delayed opening" mechanism will be implemented to mitigate the impact of sudden price volatility. This feature provides a buffer period during periods of intense market activity, ensuring that trading remains orderly and stable for all participants.
Market Independence: The exchange emphasizes that fractional and standard share markets operate independently, meaning their order books and execution triggers are separate. Consequently, investors should be aware that opening prices for the same stock may differ between the two markets and should verify their orders carefully.
