Technological Development: Lite-On is aggressively expanding into optical communications and silicon photonics, having completed prototypes for its 1.6T optical modules. The company is currently integrating mass production equipment and testing processes, with significant revenue contributions expected by the second half of next year.
Strategic Market Positioning: Leveraging single-channel 200G technology, the company aims to provide comprehensive solutions ranging from light engines to optical transceivers. By partnering with Dutch firm PHIX, Lite-On plans to showcase its research at the upcoming PIC exhibition to capture opportunities arising from global supply chain diversification.
Capacity Expansion Plans: To meet anticipated mass production demand, the company has established a cleanroom facility in Shulin and plans to launch a new plant in Taiwan next year. The total investment is estimated at NT$2 billion, with funding strategies including capital increases, convertible bonds, and potential strategic partnerships.
Short-term Outlook: While consumer LED shipments faced headwinds this year due to memory shortages, Lite-On has diversified into energy storage, solar projects, and high-end automotive infrared modules.
