Formosa Plastics Group's August revenue reached NT$157 billion, driven by surging AI-related demand for electronic materials and higher global oil prices.
What Happened
Group Performance: The four companies under the Formosa Plastics Group reported a combined August revenue of NT$157 billion, up 3.4% monthly and 40.7% annually. Despite scheduled maintenance at some facilities, the group benefited from recovering market demand and price support.
Nan Ya Plastics Momentum: Nan Ya Plastics saw its August revenue hit NT$306 billion, the highest level since July 2022. The growth was largely driven by the AI boom, which pushed demand for electronic materials across all tiers, resulting in an 82.3% year-on-year revenue increase for that segment.
Formosa Petrochemical Gains: Formosa Petrochemical reported August revenue of NT$819 billion, a year-on-year increase of over 50%. The rise in global oil prices, fueled by Middle East tensions and wider refining margins, served as the primary catalyst for this strong performance.
Other Subsidiaries: Formosa Plastics experienced a monthly revenue dip due to facility maintenance but still posted year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre saw its revenue climb over 30% annually, supported by high petrochemical raw material prices resulting from geopolitical instability.
