Optical component maker Jing Guang Optics reported a 106% year-on-year revenue jump in August, hitting a 13-year high driven by strong thermal imaging lens sales.

What Happened

Record Revenue: Jing Guang Optics reported August revenue of NT$556 million, up 106.76% year-on-year, marking a 13-year monthly high. Cumulative revenue for the first eight months reached NT$3.495 billion, reflecting a 69.57% increase compared to the previous year.

Growth Drivers: The surge is primarily attributed to robust demand for infrared thermal imaging lenses, with the Foshan factory achieving record-high monthly revenue for these products. The company's diverse applications include drones, sights, automotive lenses, and temperature measurement devices.

Profitability: First-half net profit reached NT$280 million, a 14-fold increase year-on-year, with earnings per share of NT$1.53, already surpassing the total profit for the previous year. The company expects operational momentum to continue into the third quarter.

Capacity Expansion: To meet global demand, Jing Guang is adding new production lines in Taichung, targeting markets outside of China with an expected launch in the fourth quarter. The company currently ranks second globally in thermal imaging lens production, trailing only Sunny Optical.
