Acquisition Announcement: Stablecoin issuer Circle has officially announced the acquisition of Singapore-based cross-border payment firm Tazapay. This strategic move is designed to bolster Circle's payment infrastructure and expand its footprint in the Asian market.
Regulatory Process: The transaction is currently pending approval from regulatory authorities, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The companies expect the acquisition to be finalized sometime next year following the necessary compliance reviews.
Tazapay's Operations: Tazapay specializes in B2B cross-border payments and maintains a network of over 60 banking and fintech partners. With an annual transaction volume of $25 billion, approximately 60% of its activity is already driven by stablecoin transactions.
Strategic Outlook: Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire stated that integrating Tazapay’s banking network and institutional client base will significantly accelerate the global adoption of USDC. The company aims to leverage these new capabilities to provide more efficient, borderless financial services.
