Taiwan Glass has announced a NT$7.26 billion expansion plan to boost high-end fiberglass fabric production, sending its stock price soaring by nearly 9%.
What Happened
Expansion Strategy: Taiwan Glass has approved a fourth-phase expansion plan worth NT$7.26 billion to increase production capacity across its Taoyuan, Lukang, and Bengbu facilities. Chairman Lin Po-feng emphasized that the company is aggressively scaling up to meet the surging demand for high-end materials driven by the AI sector.
Market Dynamics: The rise of AI has significantly boosted global demand for low-dielectric (Low DK) and low-thermal-expansion (Low CTE) fiberglass fabrics used in PCBs and CCLs. With major competitor Nitto Boseki reaching capacity limits, Taiwan Glass is accelerating its production timeline to capture market share.
Investment Timeline: The company has committed over NT$10 billion in capital expenditures across four phases of expansion. While the first phase is already operational and the second is slated for year-end, the third and fourth phases are scheduled for completion and production ramp-up from 2027 onwards.
Product Outlook: Taiwan Glass has secured certifications from major international manufacturers for its Low CTE products, with order visibility extending through 2027. The company is also testing next-generation Low Dk3 materials, which are expected to support long-term improvements in gross margins as the product mix shifts toward high-end electronic applications.
