Taiwan stocks surged over 1,200 points as foreign investors net bought NT$71.9 billion, focusing heavily on active ETFs and AI server supply chain stocks.

What Happened

Market Performance: The Taiwan stock market rallied 1,236.3 points today, closing near the 50,000-point milestone and setting a new record. Foreign investors net bought NT$71.896 billion, marking the ninth-largest single-day purchase this year and signaling a strong return of foreign capital.

Capital Flow: Foreign buying was heavily concentrated in active ETFs, which occupied the top six spots on the net-buy list, led by the Uni-President Upgrade 50 ETF with over 150,000 shares. AI server manufacturer Wistron and memory chipmaker Winbond also saw significant foreign inflows.

Institutional Dynamics: Among the three major institutional investors, investment trusts turned to net sellers today, ending a four-day buying streak. Conversely, foreign investors and proprietary traders continued their four-day buying trend, with foreign investors having accumulated a total of NT$127.3 billion in net purchases recently.
