What Happened
Bullish Outlook on AI: A recent report from a major foreign brokerage highlights the massive potential of the global AI semiconductor market, projecting it to reach $753 billion by 2030. While capital expenditure growth from major cloud service providers is expected to moderate, the sector is still forecasted to maintain a robust 30% compound annual growth rate.
Key Taiwanese Beneficiaries: The brokerage identified 23 Taiwanese companies as top picks, spanning AI chips, memory, packaging and testing (OSAT), equipment, and mature process nodes. Industry leaders such as TSMC, ASE Technology, and KYEC are among the highlighted firms, underscoring confidence in Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem.
OSAT Sector Surge: Following the report, the OSAT sector saw significant gains on the 21st, led by industry giant ASE Technology, which rose over 3% during intraday trading. KYEC also performed strongly, breaking through the NT$300 mark as investor sentiment turned positive.
Market Performance: Smaller OSAT players like ChipMOS and Walsin Technology hit the daily limit-up, with both stocks seeing strong buying interest. ChipMOS successfully crossed the NT$100 threshold, reflecting high market optimism regarding the demand for advanced packaging and testing services.
