Evergreen Marine reported a solid 1.88% monthly revenue increase for August, driven by robust shipping rates and peak season demand ahead of the Golden Week.
What Happened
Revenue Performance: Evergreen Marine announced an August consolidated revenue of NT$48.99 billion, marking a 1.88% monthly increase and a 48.63% year-over-year surge. The cumulative revenue for the first eight months of the year reached NT$288.74 billion, reflecting strong operational momentum.
Freight Rate Trends: The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) has risen for six consecutive weeks, bolstered by Panama Canal transit restrictions and pre-holiday shipping demand. Rates for the U.S. West Coast route have surpassed US$7,000 per FEU, while intra-Asia routes have also seen significant gains.
Supply Chain Dynamics: Low water levels in the Panama Canal have constrained vessel capacity, tightening supply on routes from Asia to the U.S. East Coast. Carriers are actively managing capacity through port skipping to navigate the surge in cargo volume ahead of China's Golden Week.
Market Outlook: Industry analysts are closely monitoring canal water levels and port congestion across Asia. Given the current supply-demand imbalance, freight rates are expected to remain elevated, supporting the company's financial outlook through the peak season.
