Index Overview: The Research Center for Taiwan Economic Development at National Central University reported that the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) for August reached 65.01 points, a marginal increase of 0.43 points from the previous month. Despite the slight rise, all six sub-indices remain in the pessimistic range.
Key Indicators: Four out of the six surveyed indicators showed improvement, with the outlook for employment opportunities over the next six months seeing the largest gain. Additionally, consumer expectations regarding price levels have softened, reaching their most optimistic point since March.
Stock Market Sentiment: The indicator for "timing to invest in stocks" fell to 27.72 points, a monthly decline of 0.36 points. This marks a three-month low, reflecting a cautious wait-and-see approach among retail investors amid high-level volatility in the Taiwan stock market.
Real Estate and Durables: Alongside the decline in stock investment sentiment, indicators for purchasing durable goods and real estate also saw slight decreases. Consumers remain conservative regarding large-scale expenditures and asset allocation in the current economic climate.
