Winbond Electronics achieved record-breaking monthly revenue in August, driven by tight supply and robust demand in the memory market.

What Happened

Revenue Performance: Winbond Electronics announced August consolidated revenue of NT$27.309 billion, marking a 2% monthly increase and a 289.43% year-on-year surge. This achievement represents the ninth consecutive month of record-breaking revenue, with year-to-date figures showing significant growth.

Market Dynamics: Driven by strong demand and persistent supply shortages in the memory sector, prices have continued to climb since August. Management expects both product prices and shipment volumes to grow in the third quarter, with supply tightness likely to persist for years.

Strategic Outlook: The company anticipates that the expansion of AI data centers, high-speed networking, and automotive applications will keep the memory market constrained through 2027. Winbond is actively expanding its Kaohsiung 12-inch fab capacity to meet this growing demand.

Capacity Expansion: Winbond is scaling up its first Kaohsiung facility to 24,000 wafers per month by year-end. Furthermore, plans for a second 12-inch fab, slated for construction in 2027, will incorporate EUV technology to support advanced DRAM processes.
