August Revenue Performance: UMC reported its latest financial results, with August consolidated revenue reaching NT$25.04 billion, a 5.04% increase from the previous month and a 30.71% jump year-over-year. The cumulative revenue for the first eight months of the year reached NT$178.66 billion, representing a 14.66% annual growth rate.
Strategic Technology Roadmap: UMC has achieved a significant milestone in silicon photonics by delivering its first batch of 12-inch silicon photonics wafers, confirming its mass production capabilities. The company plans to launch a comprehensive platform by 2027 to capitalize on the growing demand for high-speed data transmission and AI applications.
Q2 Financial Highlights: In the second quarter, UMC recorded consolidated revenue of NT$68.73 billion, up 12.6% sequentially and 17% annually, with a gross margin of 32.5%. Net income attributable to the parent company reached NT$42.26 billion, resulting in earnings per share of NT$3.39.
Q3 Outlook: Looking ahead, UMC remains optimistic about the third quarter, projecting a high single-digit percentage growth in wafer shipments. The overall capacity utilization rate is expected to exceed 90%, with gross margins projected to remain in the mid-30% range as market demand continues to recover.
