Market Performance: The Taiwan stock market saw a significant rally today, closing up 820.25 points at 46,948.72. Trading volume reached NT$1.08 trillion, marking a two-month closing high for the index.
MediaTek Leadership: MediaTek shares hit the daily limit at 4,315 TWD following news of a 3.5 billion USD investment from NVIDIA via convertible bonds. This strategic partnership also boosted related stocks, including Airoha and ASIX, which similarly hit their daily limits.
Tech Sector Strength: Major tech stocks like TSMC, Hon Hai, and ASE Technology led the gains, while ASUS reclaimed the 1,000 TWD milestone, bringing the total number of 'thousand-dollar' stocks to 50. The overall electronics sector index rose by 2% on the back of these strong performances.
Traditional Industries: Beyond the tech sector, cement, textiles, and electromechanical stocks also performed well, each posting gains of over 2%. Conversely, the plastics and cable sectors lagged behind, ending the session in negative territory.
