What Happened
Record Financial Performance: Taiwan's listed and OTC companies achieved their highest revenue and pre-tax profits in a decade during the first half of the year, driven by the global AI boom. Listed companies reported a 92.88% surge in pre-tax profits, highlighting a robust recovery and growth phase for the market.
Tech Sector Dominance: The semiconductor, electronic components, and computer peripheral sectors led the profit growth. Semiconductors, in particular, leveraged advanced technology and supply chain strategies to secure a pre-tax profit of NT$2.02 trillion, marking a significant year-on-year increase.
AI Infrastructure Demand: Strong demand from global cloud service providers for AI infrastructure significantly boosted the electronic components and computer peripheral sectors. These industries saw substantial profit growth as demand for high-end storage and memory solutions continued to climb.
