Advanced Optoelectronic reported a sharp 37% year-on-year revenue decline for September, as the company pivots toward CPO technology to drive future growth.
What Happened
Revenue Performance: Advanced Optoelectronic reported September revenue of NT$224 million, marking a 7.73% monthly decline and a 37.16% year-on-year drop. This figure represents the company's lowest monthly revenue in nearly six and a half years, with cumulative revenue for the first nine months down 8.81% compared to last year.
Market Headwinds: Analysts attribute the downturn to sluggish demand in the laptop and consumer electronics sectors. The slowdown in inventory replenishment from terminal customers has placed significant pressure on the company's monthly financial results.
Strategic Pivot: Chairman Kao Wei-ya stated that the company is actively focusing on Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) technology, specifically targeting V-groove, MT ferrule, and Through-Glass Via (TGV) solutions. The company expects to begin sampling MT ferrules by the end of this year, with V-groove production slated for the second quarter of next year.
Subsidiary Outlook: The company's touch module subsidiary, Keya Optoelectronics, has secured a third client and is preparing for mass production and a public offering next year. Advanced Optoelectronic plans to bolster its non-operating income through share divestitures in the subsidiary as it works to return to growth in the coming year.
